Amelanchier alnifolia
The city of Saskatoon is named after this delicious blueberry-like fruit. Grows into a handsome large shrub or small tree. Smooth grey bark, delicate round leaves and dreamy white blossoms appear in April/May. Exceptionally hardy native enjoys full sun to partial shade. Once established it will send up suckers and spread. Susceptible to juniper rust.
