Named after Thaddeus Clapp's discovery in Massachusetts in the 1850's. Been used commercially since 1860 for fresh eating and canning. Shapely yellow pears, with a touch of red upon its soft juicy flesh. Early variety, should be picked before it is fully ripe and allowed to ripen indoors. Not self fertile.
Grafted onto OhxF 87 Semi-Dwarf rootstock.
