These shrubs were developed at the Illinois Agricultural centre in 1968 and released in 1985. Many a wild forager can tip their hats at the benevolence of these researchers, as we know from experience the inevitable cost of picking wild blackberries: scratches that somehow make it through your thick jeans and plants that hold you by the hair in terror as you fill your mouth with the sweet fruit that tastes so delicious. Now all the pleasure of picking and bowls of fruit you desire and you get to keep knees intact. A vigorous grower that will tolerate partial shade. Fruit is produced on the second year stems.
