Dirca palustris
Named for its pliant rope-like bark. Soft yellow tubular flowers on flexible branches light up the deep woods in early spring. Exotic Rhododendron-shaped shrub with lime green leaves. Widespread throughout southern Ontario and northward to the east side of Lake Superior but never common.
